Jeffrey Harlan is an independent author of superhero fiction and the founder of Confluent Press, an independent publishing imprint that provides editorial and design services to self-published and independent authors. In 2012, he began publishing The Protectorate, an independent comic book series about a team of teenaged superheroes in Las Vegas, before realizing that not only was drawing an ongoing comic book much more difficult than he'd expected, he also enjoyed writing the stories far more than he did drawing them. In 2021, inspired by other prose superhero novels he'd read, he self-published Donner und Blitzkrieg, a prequel to The Protectorate that focused on that world's first superheroes. He soon followed that up with three novellas, adapted from the four completed issues of The Protectorate. The novellas greatly expanded on the original comics and completed the storyline from the incomplete and unpublished fifth issue. In 2022, Jeffrey edited the novellas into a single volume, which he published as Invasion.A military brat, Jeffrey moved frequently throughout his life. He's been a journalist, an airman, an educator, a security officer, and more. He's lived in three countries and seven states, and has traveled the world. A lifelong Trekkie, he has a deep love of science fiction and superheroes. He lives in Southern California's San Bernardino Mountains with his wife, Megan, their dog, Lucky, and their cats, Dusty and Snowball.
