Jeannie parents encouraged her to read by allowing her to stay up past bedtime. Her first favorites were Nancy Drew and the Boxcar Children. Her passion for reading prompted Jeannie to learn to write newspaper and magazine articles. During her career as a journalist she was published in Grit, Florida Retirement Lifestyles, Daytona News Journal, and Palatka Daily News. She has written and published Abruptly Alone.
