Elsie Brown was born at home in Indianapolis, Indiana and still makes her home there. She was the 7th child in a family of ten children. She was born into one family and raised in another, the only child not raised by her birth parents. She is an accomplished pianist, was a church organist at the age of twelve and active in the music department of her church for over sixty years. She is an artist and paints in oils, acrylics and watercolors. She is the author of "Out of Appalachia." The book chronicles the life of the uncle who took her into his home, his time in the First World War and her life from childhood to her first marriage. She has one living son, one deceased and five great-grandchildren. She has three stepsons, three stepdaughters, eleven step grandchildren and twelve step great grandchildren. She earned a degree as an LPN and nursed three husbands as they finished their journey on earth. She was honored to be chosen of God for such a calling.
