I was employed by one of the first computer firms in the country in the mid-seventies and worked on the manufacturing side with some of the tiny components that make up a computer and saw them as characters. In the mid 80s, I wrote and illustrated a couple of stories featuring these characters. I put the stories and illustrations in a drawer and forgot about them.A little while later, life got busy, and I had the joy of having 3 wonderful children and becoming a LGBTQ+ rainbow family. As time went by and the children grew up, my mother fell ill with Alzheimer's Disease. She suffered for 10 years before she passed away, and this episode of my life drew me to think of one of my characters, Magnus the memory chip, as he also suffered from memory loss, and so I brought the stories out of the drawer.I would love to have the books published in my mother's memory and be able to raise awareness of Alzheimer's disease. A few months ago, I realised (thanks to my children telling me) that my story was ahead of its time because it describes what is now known as AI (Artificial Intelligence) and so believe that this book will help children understand this concept, and some adults also, as I too was unaware of it!
