Author Michael Slaughter began his career as a Fifth grade schoolteacher in Jefferson County Kentucky. As an elementary school teacher he developed an Individualized Reading Program for his students. He also read a chapter from a suitable book to the class each day before the lunch period. He read to his own children each night at bedtime. He knew what life was like on a small family farm and had always been interested in Thoroughbred Racing. This book is specifically intended for reading by 8 to 14 year olds or to be read to a class or a child at bedtime.
