Derek Tate, MAPP is a positive psychology practitioner, flow coach and alpine ski teacher. He has spent the last 34 years teaching people of all ages and abilities to ski, including training and examining ski instructors for several national governing bodies/training organisations. As a PG Sports Coaching graduate of Moray House, Edinburgh in 1992 he has always been passionate about how people learn and the psychology of learning. This led to more recent studies and research when he embarked on the MSc Applied Positive Psychology (MAPP) at Bucks New University graduating with distinction in 2019. His passion for writing has developed over this time and involved coaching manuals, student resources and books all related to teaching and learning. He regularly writes blogs for the Parallel Dreams Coaching Academy. Derek currently spends much of his time, with his wife, in Saint Gervais les Bains where they run British Alpine Ski School Chamonix and Megeve over the winter months. When he is not coaching, he loves to get out walking in the mountains with his dogs.
