Jemma Ryan grew up in Blackwell, Oklahoma, and feels that her greatest life accomplishment is being a wife and mother. Jemma felt a need to teach her children important life lessons through building their reading skills. She lovingly named the story's main character after her sister, Jaden "Bug" Siler, who passed away unexpectedly in 2018.

Jemma built a connection between her children and their aunt through this story, with hopes that they will be able to feel love and the closeness that was lost. Her sons responded so positively to Aunt Bug's life lessons. She did not imagine that they in turn would be teaching her lessons from their short time with their aunt.

Jemma's loved ones saw the purpose and potential of Aunt Bug's Little Life Lessons, and encouraged her to publish the story. Jemma's hope is that this story can be an instrumental tool in helping teach children life lessons, as well as encourage reading, just like it has done with her own children."\
