In 1987, Tom Bulleit fulfilled a lifelong dream of reviving an old family bourbon recipe by starting the Bulleit Distilling Company. He has since forged a name for himself within the whiskey industry, including election to the Kentucky Bourbon Hall of Fame in 2009. Bulleit Bourbon continues to receive accolades within the spirits industry, specifically Gold and Double Gold medals at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. Tom is married to Elizabeth Calloway Brooks, who was named after her ancestor, Elizabeth Callaway, Daniel Boone's niece. They have two children, Hollis and Tucker. As a Louisville native, Tom was named a Hometown Hero in 2014 as the program's twenty-second inductee. He also received the Martin G. Hanse, Sr., Humanitarian Award in 2016 from the Marine Corps Coordinating Council of Kentucky.
