Thirty years ago, I used alcohol, romance, and professional accomplishments to soothe my frayed nerves. When I quit drinking, I was left with only my fears and worries. Over time, I discovered effective tools from therapy, recovery programs, scientific research, and a variety of philosophical and spiritual teachings. "Worry Less Now" describes how I and others have defeated the faulty thinking leading to dysfunctional relationships, perfectionism, addiction, and worry about loved ones. I've made it very practical so you can use the tools, too. They work! Formerly crowned the "Queen of Worry," I've resigned my post. I now live a very happy life with good friends, a wonderful husband, and my cat, Murphy. Although I haven't had a drug or drink for over 30 years, I do occasionally overindulge in Ghirardelli chocolate and historical novels. And maybe a little bit of golf! I hold a PhD in Psychological Studies in Education and an MA in Psychology, both from Stanford University. As a professor, I won several awards for teaching, and (as Georgea M. Langer) co-authored four books for educators as well as hundreds of articles on professional growth. Through speeches, retreats, and workshops, I've helped thousands of people improve their lives at home and at work. This book began as a memoir chronicling my three short marriages, career as a professional horseback rider, and adventures hitchhiking across the north of Spain--all before I turned 38. Instead, I offer you the tools to find peace of mind, clarity, and healthy connections during your tough times. I wish the best for you and your loved ones.
