Jabbour Douaihy was born in 1949, in Zgharta, in north Lebanon. He has published a series of novels and short story compilations, and his most recent book, June Rain (2006), was shortlisted for the International Prize for Arab Fiction. He is professor of French Literature at the Lebanese University.
