Jake Frederick is associate professor of history at Lawrence University in Wisconsin. He has published articles on native political factionalism and race in colonial Mexico in Ethnohistory, The Americas, and the Journal of Colonialism and Colonial History. His Spanish Dollars and Sister Republics: The Money That Made Mexico and the United States, written with Dr. Tatiana Seijas, was published in 2017.
