Jill Todd lives in Hampshire, and is a regular visitor to the Malverns, where Echo of Bells is set, as she has family there. She is 58 years old and has been writing fiction since early childhood. In 1988 she had an historical novel, Race Before The Wind, published by Kindredson Publishing, a small press which ceased trading following the sudden death of one of the directors. The paperback was later published by Coronet. She married in 1995 and had a son in 1997. At around this time she started Echo of Bells, but took a few years to complete it owing to the time constraints of being a working mum. In 2004 the MS was accepted by a UK literary agent. This version of the novel was not published, but the encouraging comments from potential publishers persuaded Jill to return to work on her novel. This ultimately bore fruit as a completely revised and updated version of the novel was accepted for publication by Black Pear Press. Jill is currently planning a second contemporary thriller.
