At the time of Fire in the Dark's publication, E.P. Danis was a graduate student of literature at Simon Fraser University. Born in Quebec, raised in Ontario, schooled in Nova Scotia, worked in NW Territory, and mastered in BC, they have lived in almost every large-scale biome that the colony known as Canada has to offer. Post-publication and graduation, E.P. Danis hoped to find a quiet job in a quiet bookstore where they could write, read, sell, and live literature.
