For many years, Carolyn and Bob Mehaffy called San Francisco Bay home port. After retiring from American River College in Sacramento, California, they set sail for Hawaii and a new career as full-time cruising sailors and freelance writers. After a year and a half in the Hawaiian Islands, they have continued to cruise aboard their Hardin 45 ketch, Carricklee, spending extended periods of time in Alaska, Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, and, after transiting the Panama Canal, four more years sailing in the Caribbean.
Their other books for sailors are Destination Mexico: Planning a Cruise to Mexico, out of print, and Cruising Guide to San Francisco Bay, 3rd Ed., available from Paradise Cay Publications, Inc. (www.paracay.com), marine stores, and www.amazon.com. The Mehaffys articles have appeared in Cruising World, Latitude 38, Northwest Yachting, Ocean Navigator, Sail, Sailing Magazine, and Yachting.
