Joe Cassilly is the oldest of 12 children from Catholic parents. He served as a U.S. Army Ranger in Vietnam as part of F Co. 75th Rangers, 25th Inf. Div. He was injured in Vietnam and has used a wheelchair since then. He was awarded a Combat Infantry Badge and a Purple Heart. For more than 41 years, he represented the victims of crime. He is a husband, father and grandfather. His first book Decoration for Valor was published in 2009. In 2011, he was named Outstanding Disabled Veteran by the Disabled American Veterans.
