Philippe Fontaine is Professor of Economics in the Department of Economics at the École Normale Supérieure de Cachan and a Senior Fellow of the Institut Universitaire de France. In 2003–4, he was Ludwig Lachmann Research Fellow at the Department of Philosophy of the London School of Economics and Political Science. He is the co-editor of The Unsocial Social Science? Economics and Neighboring Disciplines Since 1945 (Duke University Press, 2010). He has written for a number of journals including Economics and Philosophy, History of Political Economy, Isis and the British Journal of Sociology. He is Associate Editor of the Revue de Philosophie Économique. In 2005, he received the Best Article Award of the Forum for the History of Human Science. In 2008, he was the recipient of the prix d'excellence en sciences sociales (Foundation Mattei Dogan/CNRS).
