Michael Lahey was born in 1942, in Cleveland, Ohio. He visited Italy in the 1960s and fell in love with it so he moved there to teach English and learn Italian. In the 80's he toured the country and collected interviews and information about the events which had taken place during the war. He brought his wife children along on the trip. He lives in northern Italy with his wife, Rosalba, and is regularly visited by his many Italian friends.
