Norman Desmarais, professor emeritus at Providence College, is the author of The Guide to the American Revolutionary War (6-volumes), Battlegrounds of Freedom. He is editor-in-chief of The Brigade Dispatch, the journal the Brigade of the American Revolution and translated the Gazette Francoise, the French newspaper published in Newport, RI by the French fleet. It is the first known service newspaper published by an expeditionary force. Norman has also written a number of articles for the Journal of the American Revolution, the Online Journal of Rhode Island History, and The Brigade Dispatch.
