Mary Florence Hawkins (Mary) is an author of 5 books to date. Mary is also an accomplished photographer with several of her works purchased by the Library Archives Canada. These images were black and white images of Canadian aboriginal peoples, and one of Canadian Chinese. The Canada Portrait Gallery purchased one of her black and white photographs of one of Canada's Dominion Sculptors, Eleanor Milne. She recently started painting abstract and nature canvasses.
In her first career as a photojournalist in the 1970s and 1980s she photographed many celebrity politicians and others. She went on to work in broadcast television, radio and print media as a writer. Later, with her own works published, she appeared on interview shows such as Canada AM, CBC TV and Radio shows.
Mary continues to write books and take photographs, building her creative collection of her creative works. She also teaches communications at the University of Ottawa. Her website is www.maryfhawkins.com
