Inspired by her Native grandmother and her heritage, Mallory Eaglewood created her healing song-the book you now hold in your hands. Throwaway People draws from the experiences of her Assiniboine grandmother's harrowing journey as a Residential School Survivor and her grandfather's poignant tale of deportation from Scotland during the Scottish Clearances. As well as her own personal experiences living in Scotland.

Furthermore, Mallory has lectured on Native studies for many years and owned a tour company exclusively showcasing First Nations in their traditional lands.

A decorated author, Mallory's accolades include the prestigious Author of the Year award from the Province Newspaper, and her articles can be seen in various magazines. Her previous books include poetry in English and French, short stories, and plays. As a member of the Federation of BC Writers and the League of Canadian Poets, she is an active presence in the literary community.
