Lou Spaventa was born in Brooklyn, New York. His desire to see and know something beyond city borders propelled him on a journey to see the world, including East Asia, Europe, the Middle East, the Caribbean, and South America. His travels sparked in him a lifelong interest in language and culture. He became a Peace Corps Volunteer, teacher trainer, Fulbright lecturer, U.S. foreign service officer, and finally, a professor of English skills at Santa Barbara City College. A former online columnist, Lou has written and co-written several books. He is an avid swimmer and a semi-professional musician. He lives in Santa Barbara, California. Chrismouse is his first book for children.
