For Azima Melita Kolin, life has been a journey from Bach to Rumi, music to painting, painting to writing. She spent her childhood in Communist Bulgaria and studied the piano in Rome and Geneva, winning prizes in several international competitions. She raised her family in London and on the Isle of Skye where she created a chamber music festival. Inspired by the Persian poet Jalaludin Rumi, she began a series of concert-readings, combining his poetry with music. Collaborating with Maryam Mafi, she has published five books of Rumi’s poetry. She lives in London.
