Benjamin Dangl has a PhD in Latin American history from McGill University and a BA in writing from Bard College. He teaches journalism as a Lecturer of Public Communication at the University of Vermont. He has worked as a journalist around the world, covering social justice issues, protest movements, and politics for dozens of outlets including The Guardian, Vice, The Nation, and Al Jazeera. He is the author of The Price of Fire: Resource Wars and Social Movements in Bolivia, Dancing with Dynamite: Social Movements and States in Latin America, and The Five Hundred Year Rebellion: Indigenous Movements and the Decolonization of History in Bolivia, which won a Nautilus Book Award. He lives in Burlington, VT with his family.
