Tina Ruysseveldt is the author of The Courage to be True, a gripping memoir about her triumphant battles with addictions and cancer. The book details her rise from a neglected childhood in an abusive alcoholic home to a career as a respected Canadian Nursing professional, and it provides a breath-taking tribute to the power of the human spirit. As a child, Tina swore she would never become an alcoholic like her mother, but as she grew older, she fell prey to the vicious grip of this dreadful disease. After numerous brushes with death, she made a commitment to sobriety, and she created a LiveWell Recipe that helped her regain her mental health, and her physical vitality. Just a few years into her new lease on life, however, she was struck by a deadly form of cancer, which her LiveWell Recipe again helped her to vanquish. Tina's experiences with these two vicious diseases left her determined to put her energy towards helping others find their own way to a life of wellness, and her book The Courage to be True, provides a true and compelling story along with powerful tips on how to do just that. Tina is of Tuscarora heritage, a member of the Six Nations of the Grand River, an author, a sought after keynote speaker, an ICU Nurse, a Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Advanced Practice Nurse, a volunteer at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) and the creator of Tina's Recovery Yoga (TRY), a therapy for anyone who is in search of greater physical and mental wellbeing. Tina writes and speaks about how understanding and embracing self-care in a meaningful way will lead you to an improved level of well-being and enhanced quality of life.
