Until his retirement, David Gilbertson was an Assistant Commissioner at Scotland Yard with complete involvement in the fight against terrorism. His descriptions of the inner working of Scotland Yard, MI5, and the French Security Services, the DGSE and the DCRI, are thus drawn from detailed experience. In the 2001 New Year Honours list he was awarded the Queens Police Medal for ‘Distinguished Service’. He has wide experience of counter-terrorism policing in the UK and in mainland Europe.After retiring from the Metropolitan Police David now lives in Cambridge.
