Buck Buchanan is the author of The Secret Files of Hugo and Victoria, which was a silver medalist in Humor for the 2019 Florida Authors and Publishers Association's President's Book Award.Buchanan was the winner of the inaugural short story contest at SleuthFest hosted by the Florida chapter of the Mystery Writers of America (FMWA) and received an FMWA Award for Writing Excellence. He conducted a writers' workshop for the Palm Beach County Library for many years.

His crime writing was a progression from his crime fighting. For a good chunk of his life, he conducted and supervised major criminal investigations--ranging from homicide and narcotics smuggling to official corruption and fraud--for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

Buchanan lives in South Florida with his wife Susan and every stray dog and cat she can drag in. (But he can't complain--she dragged him in too.)
