Ingmar Bjï¿rkman is Professor of Management and Organization at the Hanken School of Economics in Helsinki, Finland. Raised in Norway, he receiving his Ph.D from the Hanken School of Economics after having done parts of his doctoral studies at Stanford University. He has held visiting positions at Hong Kong University, ESSEC (Paris), INSEAD (Fontainebleau), and SCANCOR (Stanford University) and has also taught at a number of other business schools in Europe and Asia. His research interests focus on international human resource management, knowledge creation and transfer in multinational corporations, and integration of international mergers & acquisitions. Much of his work has been on Western companies' operations in the People's Republic of China but he has also published several articles on management issues in Russia and done extensive research on leading European multinationals. His latest book is Handbook of Research in International Resource Management (2006), co-edited with Gï¿nter Stahl (INSEAD and Vienna University of Economics and Business). A regular contributor to international academic journals, he works regularly with multinational corporations on issues related to how they manage their human resources. He has three times been elected "best teacher of the year" by the students at Hanken School of Economics.
