Avery Yue founded Willow Way Tutoring & Enrichment, an award-winning multilingual 501(c)3 nonprofit that primarily serves K-12th grade newcomer students in the spring of 2020 with her brother, Alexander Yue. Since then, she has expanded the nonprofit to reach students from California to Kabul as well as expanded its services from multilingual online tutoring to in-person events, including free sports physicals and writing circles. Apart from launching and directing many of these programs, Avery has also personally tutored and worked with newcomer students for over 1,000 hours. Avery is the recipient of the Congressional Gold medal (2022), a four time recipient of the President's Volunteer Service Gold award (2020,2021,2022, and 2023), and a recipient of the United Nations Association USA Ambassador award (2022). Her nonprofit has received the Most Valued Partner award from San Juan Unified School in 2022 and 2023. Avery's writing has also been nationally recognized. She is the recipient of a Scholastic Arts & Writing's 2022 national gold medal for her prose writing, awarded to less than 0.3% of submissions and "the nation's longest-running, most prestigious recognition program for creative teens". She is an alumnus of Iowa Young Writers Studio, Kenyon Review's Young Writers Workshop and Adroit Summer Mentorship program.
