Fuller, now a Research Associate in Botany at the California Academy of Sciences, was for several decades a Plant Taxonomist for the California Department of Food and Agriculture; his work included assisting veterinarians with suspected plant poisonings throughout the state. Elizabeth McClintock is a Research Associate in the Department of Botany at the University of California, Berkeley. As a professional botanist working with California plants, she specialized in ornamentals growing in gardens, parks, and other comparable areas.
