Jamie Hewlett is the co-creator of Phoo Action and Tank Girl and was named Design Museum’s Designer of the Year in 2006. The illustrator teamed up with Blur frontman Damon Albarn to create the multi-million selling, virtual pop group Gorillaz.

Initially, Hewlett established himself as a significant creator in the comics industry, working on titles such as ‘Hewligan’s Haircut’, Shade, ‘The Changing man’, and ‘Tank Girl’. His drawing style then became one of the most prominent in the world as his illustrations represented the innovative virtual band that was Gorillaz. The group went on to sell multiple platinum records and number one albums/hits.

The British comic creator, animator, designer, illustrator, and director first introduced fans to the Phoo Action universe with his strip ‘Get the Freebies’, for British style and pop culture magazine ‘The Face’. The strip detailed the exploits of the anarchist duo of Terry Phoo and Whitey Action, and it continued for a year.

Matthew Wakeham is the co-creator of Phoo Action and has been close friends with Jamie Hewlett since Hewlett’'s creation of ‘Tank Girl’. He has previously written for and worked on previous Phoo Action titles and was a key employee at Gorillaz’s former design company Zombie Flesh Eaters.
