Frederick R. Muller is a food historian and nationally and internationally acclaimed chef in the American Southwest, specializing in the traditional cuisine of Colorado and New Mexico. In 1987, as part owner and chef at Crook's Corner in Chapel Hill, NC, Muller was voted as one of the top 10 new Southern Chefs by Southern Magazine, and won the 2011 Best Chef People's Choice Award, and was twice a semifinalist for the James Beard Best Chef in the Southwest Award. He and his restaurant have been covered by Southern Living, The New York Times, Sunset Magazine, The Denver Post, The Wall Street Journal, and . In 1994 he opened his own restaurant called Fred's Place, and today he is a chef and visionary partner for the successful El Meze Restaurant in Taos, New Mexico.
