Jeremy Corbyn has been a Labour Party Member of Parliament since 1983. Throughout his career he has campaigned tirelessly against injustice, fascism and imperialism around the world. Since 2001, he was on the steering committee of the Stop the War Coalition, becoming chairman in 2011. In 2015 he was elected as leader of the Labour Party, re-elected in 2016 and stood in two general elections, 2017, when Labour gained a historic 40% of the vote, and 2019, after which he announced his departure from the leadership. He lives in London and continues to be the MP for North Islington and campaigning for progressive causes.
