Kaitlyn (Kate) Phillips was born in San Diego, California, but lived out her childhood in the northern rural city of Utqiagvik, formerly known as Barrow, Alaska. Kate values nothing above her sweet golden retriever Beauregard (Beau). Kate holds an associate of arts degree in psychology and is a psychology based canine educator currently traveling Alaska, promoting canine wellness through positive training methods and public education. Though her passions lie with dogs, Kate has also been an avid writer and poet since she was very young. "Basement Sentiment: Poetry from the Dark" is Kate's first published full-length poetry collection.
