As a roving correspondent in Australia's Near North, Denis Warner travelled from crisis to crisis for half a century reporting for top newspapers and magazines in the United States, England and Australia. Cited by the Overseas Press Club of New York for the best coverage of Asian affairs in 1967, he was awarded an OBE in 1971 and the CMG in 1982 in the Australian honours list for services to journalism. At the peak of the Vietnam War, Time magazine named him as one of the two most respected and expert correspondents covering the war.
