Frank Edwards won a scholarship to UCW Wales Aberystwyth. After graduating, he was commissioned in Royal Signals. Following Staff College he was GSO2 (Intelligence) to the Federal Regular Army of South Arabia. Retiring as Major, he qualified as a teacher. He was Headmaster of three independent schools in Wales before becoming the first Director of the Independent Schools Council for Wales until 2000.
