Born in Egypt in 1951, one year before the ousting of King Farouk, and six after the Second World War, Rafik Baladi witnessed the struggling of Egyptians between royalty, socialism, and extremism until 2018. He is a holder of BA in mass communication, with Minor in Drama and Modern Theatre. He is also a holder of a Higher Diploma in Hotel Management, musician, writer, photographer and passionate contemplator of casualties of alienation and indifference. Better known as Rafi, Reffo, Ralph or Raphael, he incarnates different nationalities and associates his name with them. He juggles with different accents and enjoys posing on stage as a comedian or dramatist. He performed in major productions by Chekov, Pirandello, Ibsen, Gorki, Miller, Shakespeare and others. He worked for airlines, hotels and tourism, all of his life. Rafik Baladi studied music theory, harmony and counterpoint and plays the piano to small audiences and his family till this day, in 2018.
