Carol Hunter has been an educator for almost 40 years, primarily as a principal. While having a significant impact in her schools, she has also been a system leader in implementing change, teacher evaluation, bullying, character development, employee morale, site-based leadership and recognition. She has spoken internationally on topics such as community engagement, creating safe and caring school cultures, creating excellence in public education, professional learning communities and impactful leadership.
In 2009, Carol was named one of Canada's Oustanding Principals by The Learning Partnership. The award was in recognition of the unique and significant contribution made to the community to ensure quality public education for Canada's young people. Carol also received the YWCA's Women of Distinction in Education Award for enriching the community by inspiring a passion for life-long learning in those around her and motivating others to discover knowledge, set goals and seek opportunities.
