Michel Surya is the author of numerous novels, novellas, and essay collections, including Les Noyés (The Drowned, Léo Scheer, 2001), Le Mort-né (The Stillborn, AL DANTE, 2016), Défiguration (Disfiguration, Distribution Distique, 1995), L'éternel Retour (The Eternal Return, Léo Scheer, 2006), L'Imprécation littéraire (The Curse of Literature, VERDIER, 1999), La Révolution rêvée (The Dreamed-of Revolution, Fayard, 2004), and L'Autre Blanchot (The Other Blanchot, GALLIMARD, 2015), amongst other books. His biography of Georges Bataille received the Prix Goncourt in 1987 and was later translated into English as An Intellectual Biography (Verso Books, 2020). He is the founder and director of the review Lignes and éditions Lignes.
