Dr. Archie P. McDonald, author of Historic Texas, is one of the state's most eminent historians.
Professor of history at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches for the past 23 years, Dr. McDonald also serves as executive director of the East Texas Historical Association. He is editor of the East Texas Historical Journal and is a columnist for the Nacogdoches Daily Sentinel.
Dr. McDonald has written ten books on historical topics and has served as editor of another 17. His best known book to date is an analytical history of Texas entitled: Texas: All Hail The Mighty State.
He is a member of the Texas Historical Commission, and has served on the Texas Sesquicentennial Commission, the Texas State Library Editorial Board and the Old San Antonio Road Preservation Commission.
