Author Shaun Curtis grew up in Gaithersburg and has always been intrigued by its history. He has met with countless residents to record stories and collect old pictures. As a photographer, he has spent years documenting the abandoned remnants of Montgomery County's past. In 2008, Curtis created a website dedicated to Gaithersburg's history, and he published his first book on the subject in 2010. This second volume expands the areas of interest to include places around Gaithersburg.
