A native of the bayous of Opelousas, Louisiana, Creole-bred Nita Clarke currently resides in Lexington, Kentucky, where she has spent her highly anticipated and enjoyable retirement from the public workforce since 2006. She has two children, Michael and Michele; ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Nita attended the University of Southwestern Louisiana in Lafayette, where she studied English and Journalism. She also attended the Lexington Theological Seminary in Kentucky, where she graduated in 2013. She is a disabled veteran of the US Navy, having served during the Vietnam era as a journalist and in public affairs. Nita spent nearly ten years in radio as a talk show announcer at KSLO/KOGM Radio in Opelousas, Louisiana, and at KJAE/KLLA Radio in Leesville, Louisiana. Her favorite pastimes are writing, volunteering at her church, St. Peter Claver, and spending time with her family and friends.
