John G. Hargis has been pastoring churches in the Southwest Texas Conference since 1979. He is currently the pastor of Leander UMC in Leander, Texas, northwest of Austin. He is a graduate of Oklahoma Baptist University and the Vanderbilt University Divinity School. Rev. Hargis has written for Adult Bible Studies and Daily Bible Study. John is married to Linda Coffey, a dermatologist, and they have five children ranging in age from sixteen to twenty-four. John is also a baseball enthusiast who likes reading fiction and history. When asked what he liked about being a pastor, he replied, "preaching and teaching and talking to people."
