Michael Swaine has been writing about technology full-time since he helped launch Info World in 1981. He co-wrote the seminal history of the personal computer, Fire in the Valley, which was the basis of the movie Pirates of Silicon Valley. He was editor-in-chief of Dr. Dobb's Journal and has been a columnist and editor for a large number of other magazines. He is the co-author for the Encyclopedia Britannica's entry on Computer History and has written four different columns for MacUser. He currently edits for Pragmatic Programmers and publishes a programming magazine called PragPub.
