Dr Janet Marshall, daughter of Canon Norman Motley, spent her childhood in E. London and Essex. She attended a church school in Romford and qualified as a doctor at the Middlesex Hospital London. She worked as a GP for twenty years mainly in Weybridge and then as a counsellor and psychotherapist. She has been involved all her life in the Othona Community, which her father started in 1946 and regularly visits its two centres in Essex and Dorset. She was a trustee for 35 years and describes Othona as the happiest of playgrounds when she was a child.
