Sajal Nag teaches Modern and Contemporary History in Assam Central University, Silchar. A Commonwealth Fellow, he is an acknowledged authroity on the tribal encounter with colonialism, politics of nationalism in general and north-east India in particular. is works include Roots of Ethnic Conflict: Nationality Questions in North-East India(1990); India and North-East India: Mind, Politics and the Process of Integration (1999); Nationalism, Separatism, Secessionism (2000); Contesting Marginality: Ethnicity, Insurgency an Sub-Nationalism in North-East India (2002).
