Mara L. Pratt--who also wrote under her married name, Pratt-Chadwick--was an author of many educational books for children, including not only American History Stories but America's Story for America's Children, Stories of Colonial Children, The Great West, and Stories from Shakespeare. A significant number of her books have remained in print through the many years since their original publication due to their enduring cultural value.
