Charlotte Mary Brame, writing under the pseudonym Bertha M. Clay, was an English novelist in the 19th Century. Born in Leicestershire, Charlotte became an author to provide for her husband and nine children. Her books were extremely popular in the United States, which led to her pen-name being used by other writers after her death, including her own daughter. She wrote over 100 novels that focused on all different aspects of love.
