The poet and novelist Torgny Lindgren was born on 16 June 1938 in Raggsjoe, Sweden. His books in English translation include the novels Bathsheba, for which he won the Prix Femina in France, The Way of a Serpent and In Praise of Truth, and the collection of short stories, Merab's Beauty. His work has been translated into over thirty languages.
