Enver Carim was born and grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa, during the nastiest period of apartheid oppression. He moved to England, graduated from Exeter University with a BA degree in social studies and received editorial training at Penguin. His books, which include The Golden City and A Dream Deferred, have been translated into several languages and one short story made into an animated film by the National Film Board of Canada. He is married with daughters and lives in Greater London.
