Author Bill Pearl knows something about the struggles between fathers and sons in a family business. Like the character he created, Robert Samberg, he was recruited by his father and left behind a budding career in writing to join the family broadcast business. Like Robert, he was promised the helm upon his father's retirement and was passed over. He lived the emotional pain described in this story and the healing, eventually losing his father to Alzheimer's, but not before accomplishing a reconciliation, which he considers among the most important achievements of his life. After a successful and rewarding detour of forty years in radio and real estate, Bill turned back to becoming an author.
